Donald Kuper and Armand Alesandrini both served with the fourth Marine Division and went through the same campaigns until Armand was killed on Iwo Jima.  I do not know if they were together within the Division or not.  A Division has thousands of men and so it is possible they never knew the other was there. 

As of January 2011 I (Bob Meli) do not know if they were aware of the other in any way during their service.

Armand Allesandrini and Donald Kuper could have been best of friends or they may not have known the other was even there.

Let us never forget the Marines' sacrifice.
